These terms apply to your use of this website (“the site”, “we”). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Who can use the site
You must be at least 16 years old. The site is meant for students, prospective students and others looking for housing in Champaign-Urbana. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done with your account.
2. Your content
You own what you post: reviews, photos, listings, group applications and messages. By posting publicly, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display and share that content on the site for as long as it's posted. You can delete your content or your account at any time.
You promise that what you post is honest and based on your own experience, that you have the right to post it, and that it follows our Community Guidelines. Don't post anything false, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, illegal, or that shares someone else's private information.
Places, addresses and landlord names are added by users too. When you add one, you confirm it's accurate as far as you know. Opinions are welcome, but anything you state as a fact about a person or business must be true. You are responsible for what you post.
Only upload photos you took yourself or have permission to use.
3. Group applications and listings
Group applications help people find each other. They are not housing applications or contracts. Any lease, sublease or agreement is between you and the other parties, and you are responsible for checking whether a sublease or lease transfer is allowed by the landlord. We don't verify listings or people, and we are not a party to any housing arrangement.
Listings and applications must follow fair housing laws. You may not state preferences or requirements based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, familial status or other characteristics protected by federal, Illinois or local law.
4. Moderation
We may review, hide or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, if we believe they break these terms or the guidelines, or to protect users. We aren't obligated to monitor everything posted and don't endorse any user content.
5. No professional advice
Content on the site, including the resources page, is general information. It is not legal, financial or housing advice. Talk to Student Legal Service, OCCL or a lawyer about your situation.
6. Disclaimers
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. Reviews are the opinions of individual users, not ours. Costs, rates and details may be out of date. We don't guarantee the accuracy of anything posted, or that the site will be available or error-free.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, from content posted by others, or from dealings between users.
8. Reporting and takedown requests
Use the Report link on any page, or email voiceofcu@proton.me. We read every report and remove content that breaks these terms or the guidelines.
Copyright complaints

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice to that agent. Include your physical or electronic signature, the work you believe was copied, the link to the material on this site, your address, phone number and email, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law, and a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
We remove material that is the subject of a valid notice and tell the person who posted it. If your content was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly post infringing material.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we'll post a notice on the site. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
